Rolls-Royce Phantom

This stunning vehicle, brought to Kendal in 1938, has been used for weddings since then and has recently carried the third generation of a local family to the altar. It is extremely spacious inside and can seat up to six adults.

During its long association with Kendal, this Rolls-Royce was regularly used to convey the High Sheriff and Circuit Judge to the assizes at Appleby. To enable a better view of the journey, the High Sheriff commissioned the rear quarter panel windows on the otherwise original coachwork. Marks from his sword were sanded from the inlaid burr walnut panelling during refurbishment in the 1980s.

The vehicle was originally purchased on the 24th of October 1933 by Mr J Carew of Liverpool, who paid £1,425 for the chassis, before renowned coachbuilder Arthur Mulliner added his own £3,312 worth of magic.
